Welcome

Welcome, please click below for the video welcome message.

Good morning everybody- all those meeting online and those meeting at The Retreat.
I welcome you to our Sunday Service.
Please join with me to open in prayer.
“Father, we thank You for Jesus.
We thank You for so great a Salvation that You have given us.
Thankyou that we can meet together to feed on Your Word and to praise and worship You.
Your Word is TRUTH.”
 Amen

Please join in reading the Word from 1 John 1 vs 1-3

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of Life- the Life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us-that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with The Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

Amen

Our civilization is crumbling because the “builders” of our societies have rejected Jesus who is the Chief Cornerstone and have chosen instead many other “stones” for the construction of their buildings.

One of contemporary society’s gospels or a cornerstone of their society is secular humanism. Secular humanism pretends that we do not need a Saviour. They say that humans can charter their own way and satisfy their own needs, regardless of what God has created us for. Hence the swing to the far left with liberal secularism and far left socialism. The swing has been away from the far-right capitalism. Socialism and far left liberalism is being used by the communists and the new world order to break down existing societies and eventually to reform society into a strictly humanist society.

Jesus was not unbalanced left or unbalanced right. He laid out plainly in the Bible how we are to live and what our value system should be.

The current trends in the world are to liberalism and socialism, with a strong drive to eliminate the truth of God and salvation through Jesus. This is fast resulting in chaos. God is not a god of chaos; the devil brings chaos.

Our responsibility as a Church is to hold fast to the teachings of Jesus and to serve Him and to praise Him and to worship Him alone so that the deceiver, the devil, does not blind our minds and lead us into destruction.

As we continue our studies of the acts of the Holy Spirit, may we be inspired to be obedient to His leading. May we be attentive to His voice as He speaks to us by His Spirit and through His Word, the Bible, and thereby gain Holy Spirit power to win souls for Jesus.

Let us now praise and worship Him with all our might.

JESUS IS LORD

Amen

Prayer

Incline Your ear, O Lord, and answer me;
For I am afflicted and needy.
Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man;
O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You.
Be gracious to me, O Lord,
For to You I cry all day long.
Make glad the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You.
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
And give heed to the voice of my supplications!
In the day of my trouble I shall call upon You,
For You will answer me.
There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord,
Nor are there any works like Yours.
All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And they shall glorify Your name.
10 For You are great and do wondrous deeds;
You alone are God.

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And will glorify Your name forever.
13 For Your lovingkindness toward me is great,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

14 O God, arrogant men have risen up against me,
And a band of violent men have sought my life,
And they have not set You before them.
15 But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.
16 Turn to me, and be gracious to me;
Oh grant Your strength to Your servant,
And save the son of Your handmaid.
17 Show me a sign for good,
That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed,
Because You, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

- Psalm 86 (NASB)

Communion

We are going to take communion elements as we read the following scripture.

I am reading from Luke 22: 15-20

‘And Jesus said to his disciples, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfilment in the kingdom of God.” 17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me – take bread.” 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you – take juice.’

Let’s look at two scriptures which remind us of what Christ achieved on the cross for each one of us:

Isaiah 53: 4-5: “Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

2 Corinthians 5: 17- 21 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

In conclusion, we see that Jesus took our pain, our suffering, He took our sin and bought us healing. So that in him we are made new and reconciled to God so that we could stand before him and be counted righteous. What an awesome privilege it is that we can take a moment to remember and be thankful for what Christ has done on the cross for us because of His great love for us.

Giving

As shared in previous weeks, we are requesting additional financial commitments. We are asking all regular members to join with us in sharing a commitment of giving to the church. We, Elders, are utilizing a simple pledge form, that will only be viewed by the Eldership and does not require you to include your name. If you are able to commit to regular giving, please click on the following link and complete the form: Pledge Form

If you feel led to give to the church, you are encouraged to use online transfer facilities (wire, mobile, & bank). Though we currently do not offer direct debit or credit card donations, some have found TransferWise to be a helpful platform for transferring money locally or internationally (minimal transaction fees).

If you are unable to use contactless methods, you can still drop-off your offering at the church office during regular working hours. You can confirm any details with the church administrator by calling, texting, or WhatsApp: +260966800100

Benediction

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.
Psalm 121:5-8 (NASB)

Amen
