LCC Online Service - 17 May 2020

Welcome

Welcome, please click below for the video welcome message. (If your internet is giving you issues, the written version is below as well).

Good morning all.
Welcome to LCC Online Sunday Service on this beautiful sunny day in May.
God is ever present and we come with expectation and joyful hearts.

Let us open in prayer.

Father, we, collectively, come before You, with thankful and adoring hearts, as we prepare ourselves to meet with You, to praise You, to sing to You, to pray to You and to hear Your Word that you prepared for us. Thank you, Father, for your Word today. Amen.

It is so good to meet again, even though it is a virtual meeting. However, we are all present together in the Spirit with our Lord.
It is just amazing what God has been doing in people’s lives through this time of shutdown. People have been instituting ‘shutdowns’, but God never has a ‘shutdown’, so in the Spirit we also should never have a shutdown. Jesus has the victory and He resides within us!

Each online service that we have had has got technically better as we have progressed, but the teaching and worship and all the spiritual content has always been God-directed. We have been blessed!

Kay will read Romans 8: 27-31 (NIV). Please follow in your Bibles.

vs 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the Saints according to the will of God.
vs28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
vs29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren.
vs30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified, these He also glorified.
vs31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

So, if God is for us, who or what can overpower us? The difficulties that the world is experiencing cannot overpower us. In fact, God is using these times to strengthen us. Nicky Gumble who developed and runs Alpha Courses quoted during this week that they now run Alpha online, and the number participating has quadrupled, and reaches some people that they could not normally have reached, like people who cannot physically get to a meeting.

God is good- even in the midst of bad things such as we are going through, God is good!

God is full of love for us, but He allows things to happen, so that we can face any doubts we may entertain, about God, so that the fire He has placed in our hearts is challenged to burst forth and burn brightly despite the fire of doubt. This causes us to grow in faith and stability, experiencing peace and joy in Christ our Lord.

We can consequently grow to worship God in all ways for Who and What He is, and in whatever situations we may be in.

AMEN.

…..then, as the song says:-
Come, now is the time to worship………Come, just as you are before your God……..

We hand over now to the Worship Team.

Prayer

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered, O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
- Psalm 105:1-6 (ESV)

  1. Pray That the Church Will Be a Light - “A scared world needs a fearless Church.” (A.W. Tozer)

  2. Pray that we would be living sacrifices of worship to God. And that the songs from our heart and lips would praise Him and bring healing and restoration to the community around us.

  3. Pray that we may be so in awe of God that the fears and anxiety of this world melt away. Pray that the Holy Spirit helps us to lay down our burdens at the foot of the Cross.

  4. Pray for the ongoing work of the Kingdom in Chipata.

  5. Pray for the world leaders. 1 Timothy 2:1-4, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”

  6. Pray for the Pastoral Call Committee as they continue the interview and selection process.

Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me;
my enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

All day long they injure my cause; all their thoughts are against me for evil.
They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps, as they have waited for my life.
For their crime will they escape? In wrath cast down the peoples, O God!

You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?
Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me.
10 In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise,
11 in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?

12 I must perform my vows to you, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

- Psalm 56 (ESV)

May we close in prayer….

“Father we praise and worship You. May Your Name be magnified.

We love You Father. Thank you for continually having been with us and that You will continually be with us in the time ahead. Thank you for Your Word and the light and power and peace that is in Your Word.

Father we commit to walk in Your ways through this next week as You direct and strengthen us that we may bring glory to Your Name.”

Amen
