Welcome everyone to our on-line church service! May our Lord’s blessings and protection be on you all. This Sunday is a very special one as we have Pastor Chad preaching his first sermon at LCC. Let us open in prayer and commit this service to the Lord.
I want to encourage you today, to set a daily time to read and meditate the Word of God. This constantly sets our compasses to true north to be always in tune with our God The effect of this is having an ever-deepening relationship with our Father God, to hear his still small voice of love, of instruction, of correction and to be used by Him. Jn 10:27 Jesus says: My sheep hear my voice.
Daily, how much screen time do we spend on our mobile phones, watching TV & on our computers? How much time daily do we spend in the Word of God? How about a technology fast?
As Christians we need to spend quality and quantity time in theWord of God – not like getting drive though fast food take outwith God. Let His Word dominate our spirits, souls, and bodies.
Let us look at some scriptures which show what effect of the Word of God has on our lives. Reading from:
Josiah 1:8
8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Here are two wonderful promises for us that willbless us in every area of our lives – spirit, soul, and body.
Now reading from:
Psalm 19: 7-9 & 14
7 The law (rule or principal) of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; (this is renewing the mind to align us to true north)
The testimony (Evidence or witness) of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts (principals or teachings) of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment (order or mandate) ofthe Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
We must be grounded in the Word of God so that we have faith in God to withstand against the “wind and the waves” of adversity during these times we are living under and to come.Reading from:
Romans 10:17:
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
However, as James chapter 1 says, we must also be a doer of the Word.
The Parable of the Sower illustrates how important this is.
Reading from Mark 4:20
…like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept the word, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”
Resulting in us being fruitful – drawing on the abundant life from the vine, which produces fruit.
Here are some pointers I’d like to leave you with. When you read and meditate on God’s word, ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight on these verses, be expectant, pray that God will flood the eyes of your heart with light, visualise yourself in the chapter you are reading, look up the meaning of the words, read over and over the word. When you are reading, and the Holy Spirit shows you something, camp on those verses, meditate on them and hide them in your heart. You not reading the Bible as an assignment, it is the living Word of God, it is His Word for us personally.

Prayer
1 Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
- Psalm 16 (NIV)

Benediction
O Christ our God, before your cross
unceasingly we bow.
You give us life, you give us hope.
The one eternal Now.
O Christ our God, before your tomb
we wait with bated breath.
The stone has gone, the clothes remain,
you've triumphed over death.
O Christ our God, most powerful Lord,
the true and living way.
You show the path to heaven above,
alive on that third day.
O Christ our God, the one true love,
your goodness all may see.
We gaze on you, enthroned on high
for all eternity.- O Christ our God - Michael Saward/Jubilate Hymns
