LCC Online Service - 26 April 2020

Welcome

The Name of Jesus excites us, just the mention of His Name quickens us. We love Him, we worship Him. He first loved us.

But the foundation of our love for Him, and our worship of Him, is salvation.

The Name of Jesus is so vast in its meaning. Isaiah 9:6-7 says “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given. And the government shall be on His shoulder. And His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government there shall be no end……”

Aaron and all the subsequent High Priests were all adorned in elaborate garments representing their position and representing the twelve tribes. But Jesus on earth was not robed magnificently like that to draw attention to His position. He was robed in the Power and Glory and Authority of God. His power shone through - He won the victory over Satan.

We love Him. We praise Him. We worship Him. He is our Defender and Provider.

During this difficult period of time that the world is going through, we can rest in peace and joy.

Jesus, ‘Your Name is as ointment poured forth’. How much it means to us - salvation, healing, deliverance, freedom, abundant joy - all these, and ten thousand more.

We are forever grateful.

Jesus is within us!

Amen.

Prayer

I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
- Psalm 145:1-3 (ESV)

  1. Pray for Christians worldwide, that the church would step forward to pray and to care for the sick and their caregivers in practical and sacrificial ways.

  2. Pray for faith to arise in peoples hearts to dispel any confusion or fear.

  3. Pray for the work of the Kingdom to continue to move forward in Chipata.

  4. Pray for the Government and decision-makers to find efficient and effective ways to manage the Country during this time. And for our political leaders to unite as they work to resolve the global crisis

  5. Pray for the Pastor Call Committee process.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.

They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty—he is the King of glory.

- Psalm 24 (ESV)

The smaller groups formed are meant to keep us all connected. But we acknowledge that sometimes we want to encourage and pray together as a whole church. If you have any praises and/or prayer requests, you can share them by submitting through the following link (submissions will only be viewed by Elders and will only be shared together if noted on the form): Prayer Form Click Here

Loving and caring for one another:
How can we care for one another during COVID-19?

  1. Eyes wide open - Stress, fear, anxiety show inside and out. May we pray each day to see one another with the eyes of Jesus. He truly saw the people around Him who were hurting and He loved them in powerful ways because of really seeing people. May we pray for open eyes to see any signs of of stress or anxiety or fear in our friends and family.

  2. Ears wide open - Caring for one another requires listening ears to hear the verbal and nonverbal signs of pain. May we pray for ears to listen and for our tongue to be held until the right words are cultivated by the Holy Spirit.

  3. Arms wide open - Caring for one another requires being able to both hold close and to be able to release each other to more equipped persons. Many times we may not have the tools or education to properly care for the hurting and broken, but by both seeing and listening we may be able to refer them to the right person for further care. This starts with first releasing the hurting person to our loving Father who cares and knows each of us better then we can ever know. By placing one another in the Lords faithful hands, we seek guidance on who best can come alongside as well to encourage and counsel these individuals.

Thank You

Another week has gone by and there continues to be mixed emotions and outlooks on the days, weeks, and months ahead. Through all of this we are thankful that we are able to stay connected through so many unique ways. We are thankful that we are loved by God who chooses to be present here with us and never self-isolates. We are so thankful for the sending and indwelling of the Holy Spirit who is our guide, counsellor, and prayer partner in request to God that we do not even know how to verbalize. You are loved by God. You have a purpose.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20

Benediction

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

“For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
“Or who has given a gift to him
    that he might be repaid?”

For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

- Romans 11:33-36 (ESV) -
